Inside the icc; which is a walk through to Brindley Place (Birmingham's poshist most city centre postcode) on the Grand Union Canal (link), an array of watering holes as famously visited by former President of America Bill Clinton and restaurants of various worldly flavour.
Also, the icc links across over Broad Street to the Hyatt Hotel, making the Hyatt an ideal place to stay for icc conference delegates and an excellent wedding reception venue.
The same icc complex also houses the CBSO's Symphony Hall.
So, the icc is a convention centre, home of the CBSO Symphony Hall, a walk through to Brindley Place where Bill Clinton famously drank a pint taking during the G8 Summit; the icc was host to the European Song Contest and makes a handy environment for wedding photography from the Broad Street Registry Office.
You can take a pleasant walk from Broad Street and the waterside canal area by the NIA, walk indoors through the International Convention Centre with its modern and tasteful interior and out into Centenary Square. From Centenary Square head for the Library and walk through the arcade into Chamberlain Square, Victoria Square and the city centre. TEXT BY BirminghamUK.
There are a number of
examples of public art and buildings in the square such as the Spirit of
Enterprise, the torch, Baskerville House and the
Hall of Memory. The square was completed in 1991.

When Bill Clinton visited for the G8 Summit in 1998 we knew we had arrived. But no one could have imagined the great man - then the president of the United States and the most powerful man in the world - would be so impressed he would take a break from world discussions to take a stroll around and relax with a pint outside a bar. He not only told the world what a great place the city was but showed it too, thanks to the mass media attention his visit attracted. We have got the world famous City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) recently led by Sir Simon Rattle, Birmingham Royal Ballet, and the Birmingham International Film Festival.
'Impressive' Travel just a few miles away and you can get to Stratford, birthplace of Shakespeare, or Ironbridge, the home of our industrial heritage. On a more modern note, top bands ELO, Moody Blues, UB40, Ocean Colour Scene and Duran Duran all started here too. Our tight-knit multicultural community gives the city a fantastic richness, inspiring events such as our St Patrick's Day Parade and Birmingham International Carnival. Since his visit, Bill Clinton has continued to back our campaign. Recently he said what a fantastic waterfront and impressive convention centre we have.
